Effective Prayer and Sports

In 4th grade I was playing in bed with my sister and fell off suddenly landing on my left shoulder. As I rolled onto my back I noticed I could not move my left arm at all, and it was painful. We immediately called a Christian Science practitioner to help pray for me, and my mom who is a Christian Science nurse cared for me during the days I was not able to use the arm. We prayed to understand that Accidents are unknown to God (S&H 424:5*) and to know my perfection over anything seemingly hurt or out of place. Within a week the arm was healed and I was able to return to school where I was asked show them the movement of my arm. They were impressed to see how capable I was and there was no hint of abnormal effects. Since then I have not had any problem with my left arm and am grateful I did not have to resort to any medicine or medical help.
In high school, during one of my Fast Pitch softball practices before a game, my team-mate threw the ball at me at a very high speed. The problem was I had been bending over picking up another ball and did not know she had thrown it until I felt the impact on the back of my head. However, other than the brief hit, I did not react with any pain because I honestly didn’t feel any. My coach immediately grew concerned and would not stop asking me if I was okay. I told him I was fine knowing the truth that “There is no sensation in matter” (S&H 237: 4*) and I knew nothing had harmed me even though to everyone else’s eyes I should have been seriously injured. Our physical trainer checked me out and said I was fine to play the game, which I did without any difficulty and the hit did not have any lasting effects.
Sunday School teaches me how to trust God as my physician and protector, as the Bible in Jeremiah 40:17 says, I will heal thee” (Jeremiah. 40:17), and that “God is Love” (I John 4:16).
Potential Loss of Home Averted

“To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings.” (Science & Health page 1: 1)*. Today, I certainly feel blessed! After my husband, passed away I had a sudden shortage of funds which threatened my ability to pay the mortgage on the house we had built together. I knew that I could turn to God to help reveal the right steps to take, so with the help of a Christian Science practitioner (someone who will help you through prayer) I prayed to find the answer to my financial crisis. The solution came from an unexpected source: The County sent a notice that re-appraisals of property in the area (including mine) resulted in substantially higher valuations. For me, the higher appraisal provided an opportunity to take advantage of a reverse mortgage option that actually provides an income, negates my mortgage payment, and enables me to stay in that house as long as I live. I can even leave a goodly inheritance for my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. God, good, is the solution to all our problems – whether they be issues of health, finances, relationships, or whatever we feel threatened by!

Crushed Ankle Healed

The study of Christian Science healed me when I experienced a crushed ankle after a nasty fall and a heart problem discovered while the doctors were preparing for surgery to rebuild my ankle. The doctors predicted that I would be bedridden for at least one-a-half year to two years before I could walk again.
I was walking normally within 3 short months after the accident, went back to work, and never suffered any heart attack as feared by the doctors, 16 years ago.
Christian Science can heal everything!
Injury from Skiing Accident Healed

I was healed of a skiing accident. While skiing in Aspen, CO, I lost control and fell down a very step trail and found I was unable to get up and stand on one of my legs. The ski patrol was very concerned and wanted me to be taken to the hospital for treatment and x-rays. I thanked them for their concern but I chose to rely on my understanding of God gained through my study of Christian Science. God had always healed me in the past and He did this time, too! By that evening I was out dancing with friends and back on the slopes the next day completely healed.
